3 Males Arrested for Possession High Power Guns

STA. BARBARA, Pangasinan, 04 March 2009 (Wednesday) – Local police here scored big for the arrest before midnight yesterday of three (3) males for illegal possession of high powered firearms.

Suspects were caught in possession, control and custody the following: one (1) M-14 rifle with seven (7) magazines and 106 pieces live caliber 7.62 mm ammunitions, one (1) AK-47 rifle with four (4) long magazines and 92 pieces of live ammunitions, and one (1) caliber .45 pistol (Caspian) with one (1) magazine and eight (8) live ammunitions and one (1) bandoleer for M14 Rifle and a Nokia Cellphone.

The suspects were arrested in flagrante by joint police patrol operations. Acting on a tip from a Barangay Information Network, police officers discreetly went to the place and painstakingly waited for an opportune time, suspects were encircled by the police and eventually overpowered after a brief scuffle.

The suspects were later identified as Ruben Rosario y Salvador, 32 years old, Orlando Antonio y Garcia, 35 years old, and Ruben Gonzales y Peria, 39 years old. Follow up investigation is ongoing.

According to the  town police chief, Superintendent Eric Noble,

Inspector Ricardo Ubando, SPO1 Alfredo Escorpiso, SPO1 Hilarion Gabrillo and PO1 Bernard Bayani did a superb job as they were able to arrest the well armed suspects without any bloodshed.

Upon learning of the arrest, newly installed Ilocos Region Police Director, Chief Superintendent Ramon Gatan and Pangasinan Police Director, Senior Superintendent Percival Barba visited the police station here and promptly congratulated the officers here for an exemplary job.###
